Cars in Germany's City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
